DVM Seva Paalam voluntarily devoted its services in cleaning the temple ponds and got appreciation from the Tamil Nadu Government. The organization has a band of social workers for whom they are highly indebted. Many industrialists have been rendering financial support to DVM Seva Palaam. On several occasions the organization got encouragement and appreciation from the Government.
The name Irulappan in Tamil is "Darkness Gentleman"! Yes, he "Dispels Darkness". Mr Irulappan is a kind-hearted man who is not able to see such dried and dessicated fields, his heart breaks for these and wanted to grow green and bright trees as a result he wanted to give light and brighten the life of the needy. This is how the DVM Seva paalam started funcitoning its social services. For a good cause, there are always many people who volunteer. But in the case of DVM Seva Paalam there are lot of sponsors like Industrialists and many private hospitals like eye hospitals and other government institutions who help at its request.
On hearing and seeing the service of Mr. M. Irulappam the government has awarded as the best social service organization.
The activities of DVM Seva Paalam though started in Chennai has now spread across the entire State. Highlights of services at different places are :
Mr. Irulappan has a branch office in his native place at Sri Vaikuntam (Thuthukudi District) and activities like helping the young in education, setting up medical camps, etc., At KanyaKumari District (Anju village), Madurai, Trichi, Nellai and many more activities have taken place. Supply of wheel chairs to the old and disabled people are provided in Railway Stations, so that they feel comfortable to get down.
Only people who are healthy can develop a healthy society. For people who are addicted to alcohol are treated to overcome drinking, people who are dejected in life are given counseling.
“At least one service to one person a day" is his policy and he ensures the same and practices the fact that he had done something everyday.
